Training New Instructors Each Semester?
Preparing student group fitness instructors can be time-consuming and inconsistent. Many campus recreation programs rely on informal shadowing or short workshops that don’t fully prepare students to lead classes with confidence.
When training isn’t structured, departments often experience:
- Uneven class quality
- Longer onboarding timelines
- Inconsistent coaching and cueing skills
- Increased supervision demands on fitness staff
This program is designed for campus recreation departments that:
- Train new student instructors each semester
- Want a structured instructor onboarding process
- Need consistent coaching and cueing standards
- Want to better prepare students for national certification
A Structured Pathway for Developing Student Instructors
The 8-Week Hybrid Group Fitness Instructor Training Program provides campus recreation departments with a structured onboarding pathway for developing new and emerging student instructors.
Participants progress through guided learning modules, live coaching sessions, and practice teaching opportunities designed to help them confidently lead safe, effective, and engaging group fitness classes.
The program combines:
- Structured online learning modules
- Live virtual coaching sessions
- Practice teaching opportunities
- Instructor mentoring and feedback
This approach helps departments build a stronger instructor pipeline, improve instructor quality, and reduce onboarding time.

Weekly sessions where participants practice teaching, ask questions, and receive feedback from instructors.
Practice Teaching Opportunities
Participants develop class segments and gain experience cueing movements and leading short portions of a class.
